Revive Our Land, Oh God

image

The image is quite humorous, but there really should be so much of it that holds truth for those who are called by the name of Christ.

As Christ Followers, we should strive to leave a loving residue in the lives of those we come in contact with. We should be bold to speak of His love, mercy, and power as the begotten Son, the Son God sentenced in our place.

God has raised a body of believers in this country we call the United States of America, but in this day and age, at times it leaves some of us desperately hoping we once and for all shed our dormant state.

Jesus promises to heal broken hearts and set captives free. Yet there remain countless captives in this life. Luke 4:17-19

My prayer for the Christ Followers of America:

Please God free us of our captivities. Help us to come back to You.

The God who heals, the only God who offers true freedom.

We bear Your name, nevertheless we are terribly weak because we don’t study Your word, and because we believe the lie that we don’t need You.

We are held captive by negative thoughts, past traumas, poverty, drugs, alcohol, pornography, but worse yet, our biggest prisons are hatred, greed, un-forgiveness, self-centeredness, prejudices, lawlessness, and self-deception.

May we, Your people, never give up what You hold so dear, and that is Your presence in our lives. May we be bold enough to speak Your truth.

Refresh in our women the love for their family, and the modesty and respect for themselves You hold so dear.

Empower our men with the love for their families and respect for our women, their sisters; and raise up in them the innate desire for sound leadership You placed in them; rather than the complacent spirit that has settled over them.

Give our youth the appetite and longing to seek Your face, and lead their peers.

Keep our innocent from being offered on the altar of our own selfishness.

Revive America, Your land. Shed your grace on us from sea to shining sea once more.

Raise us up again, oh God. Raise us up for there is no power greater than You. Help us to be that bright light shining on the hill. Don’t let us hide our lights under a bushel any longer because when a covering is placed on a candle, its flame always suffocates.

Help us never to forget the hope that lies in us, and that hope is that through Christ we can be cleansed of all iniquity, find freedom and restoration, and spend an eternity with You!

Pour out Your spirit on us like never before. Revive us with a passion only You can muster.

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

Dear God, I long to be captivated only by Your salvation, grace, love, and the kind of peace only You can offer. An inner peace and freedom no one can ever steal or destroy.

Dust us off and breathe life to our dusty bones, bones that are dry of Your Spirit. Ezekiel 37:1-14

Please restore the hedge of protection you have kept on our country for decades. Shower Your blessing on us once more.

In Jesus’ name, may Your will be done. Amen.

Humble yourself, America. Call on the God of your land once more.

Anyone Else Have This Happen?

This is most definitely me!! anyone else?

Yes, yes, yes! Someone finally understands!

I have done this more times than I can remember.  I stash something so securely that when it comes time for me to use it, I can’t find it and have to go out and buy another one, only to find the stashed item way later when I have no need for it!  This has happened to me with Christmas and birthday gifts, with a special something I am saving for later, and with tools.  Yes, you read right.  Tools. My husband and I have our own set of tools because he doesn’t always put them away after he uses them and it drives me nuts to have to waste time in an unfruitful tool search.  So I hide my tools somewhere he won’t find them and then when I need them I cannot find them either!

Just gotta laugh!

I think from now on I will have to jot a note somewhere as a reminder where I put the prized item, but the way things go with me, I will forget where I jotted that down also.

Anyone else have this happen?

The Fat Lady

A story worth reading!

booklovers1's avatarbooklovers1

Hi! How are you?” The woman smiled as she took the seat beside me. She had to lower herself slowly, squeezing her ample bottom into the seat, filling all available space.

Positioning herself comfortably, she plopped her enormous arm on our common armrest. Her immensity saturated the space around us, shrinking me and my seat into insignificance.

I cringed and reclined towards the window.laughter

She leaned towards me and repeated her greeting in an upbeat, friendly voice. Her face towered above my head, forcing me to turn to look at her. “Hi,” I replied with obvious loathing.

I turned away to stare out the cabin window, sulking silently about the long hours of discomfort I was going to experience with this monster beside me.

She nudged me with her meaty arm. “My name is Laura. I’m from Britain. How about you? Japan?”

“Malaysia,” I barked.

“I’m so sorry! Will you…

The History of Aprons

imageThe History of ‘APRONS’I don’t think our kids know what an apron is. The principle use of Grandma’s apron was to protect the dress underneath because she only had a few. It was also because it was easier to wash aprons than dresses and aprons used less material. But along with that, it served as a potholder for removing hot pans from the oven.It was wonderful for drying children’s tears, and on occasion was even used for cleaning out dirty ears.

From the chicken coop, the apron was used for carrying eggs, fussy chicks, and sometimes half-hatched eggs to be finished in the warming oven.

When company came, those aprons were ideal hiding places for shy kids..

And when the weather was cold, Grandma wrapped it around her arms.

Those big old aprons wiped many a perspiring brow, bent over the hot wood stove.

Chips and kindling wood were brought into the kitchen in that apron.

From the garden, it carried all sorts of vegetables. After the peas had been shelled, it carried out the hulls.

In the fall, the apron was used to bring in apples that had fallen from the trees.

When unexpected company drove up the road, it was surprising how much furniture that old apron could dust in a matter of seconds.

When dinner was ready, Grandma walked out onto the porch, waved her apron, and the men folk knew it was time to come in from the fields to dinner.

It will be a long time before someone invents something that will replace that ‘old-time apron’ that served so many purposes.

Send this to those who would know (and love) the story about Grandma’s aprons.

REMEMBER:

Grandma used to set her hot baked apple pies on the window sill to cool. Her granddaughters set theirs on the window sill to thaw.

They would go crazy now trying to figure out how many germs were on that apron.

How about you, do you use an apron?  Do you have a special apron memory?

Are You Feeling Insecure?

booklovers1's avatarbooklovers1

‘The Lord…said to me, “Now I have put my words in your mouth.”‘ Jeremiah 1:9 NIVAm I Good Enough

The people God calls usually start out feeling ill-equipped and insecure. Indeed, if you jumped up and said, ‘No problem, Lord, I can handle that,’ He wouldn’t call you at all. You say, ‘But I’ve made no mistakes.’ Everybody falls; the winners are just the ones who get back up again. ‘The Lord delights in a man’s way, He makes his steps firm; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord holds him with his hand.’ (Psalm 37:23-24 NIV) When Jeremiah told God that he had neither the competence nor the confidence needed to do the job, God said to him what he says to us: (1) You are not going in your own authority. ‘…You must go to everyone I send to you…’ (Jeremiah 1:7 NIV) Who’s sending you, sponsoring…
