A Surprise Inside The Sparrow
Inspired by scriptures about the sparrow and the lyrics to the song, His Eye Is on the Sparrow, I chose my blog’s name, His Eye Is On This Sparrow. I then wanted an image to represent this name and theme.
After much thought, I came up with an eye to represent God’s eye, then drew a sparrow
His Eye Is On This Sparrow
reflected in the eye. I used coloring pencils to fill in the colors. I have looked at this image at least 50 times, and only saw the lowly, common sparrow. Yesterday, a blogger friend surprised me with a comment. George made a comment on the post God’s Hand Is Mightier Than A Falling Tree, about a tree that fell on my car years ago. Then, she pointed out something I never noticed about the image I drew and chose as my avatar. You can see the conversation below. Continue reading

ALDD – Adolescent Logic Deficit Disorder
Have you heard of ALDD? It stands for Adolescent Logic Deficit Disorder. It is a name I came up with to keep my sanity when I had no other way to explain my teenager’s complete lack of logic. Somewhere out there in a medical journal, I know there exists the scientific name for this adolescent condition. You may even recognize your teenager in this post.
When my son was about 16 years old, he got his first vehicle. It wasn’t much to speak of and certainly not a chick-magnet, but then since when did Jonathan need a magnet. He came out of the womb magnetized. The ladies at our church nursery called him, “The Flirt.” His friendly nature and dimply smile attracted many people. Continue reading

Consumed By Necessary Distractions
The biblical story of Mary and Martha is one I can personally relate to. For those not familiar with the story in Luke 10:38, I will briefly fill you in. The sisters Mary and Martha, are the same whose brother Lazarus was called out of the tomb by Jesus after he had been dead for four days. John 11:1-44.
“Remove the stone covering the tomb.” Jesus ordered. I can just hear the monumental intake of breath as the many mourners gasped at the thought of the dead man in the tomb, in the heat of the Israeli climate. “ He’s been there four days, there will be a stench,” Martha told Jesus. Continue reading
