What is a Godly Man?

:

What Women Want in a Godly Man
5 traits that reveal true marriage material.

I am passing the link on as I believe it is a very important message.  Please visit the magazine site. It also promises to do an article on “What Men Want in a Godly Woman” tomorrow.

The lady that shared the article on Facebook  pointed out she would like to find a man who loves her more than his Xbox.   It would be a funny statement,  if it was not so pathetically true.

This is how I responded to her.

“In this day and age men who value their Xbox less than the woman in their life are not easily found, but don’t give up; they still exist!  And may I add a man with class and a bit of chivalry is a must!”

Personally this is something else I would add to Ms. Fileta’s list.

Nothing makes me lose the respect of a man (or woman) more than one who uses foul language or talks or jokes about crass things.  As Matthew 15:18 puts it.  “But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and it is those things that make a person unclean.”

The words from his mouth tells a lot about his heart.

They Are Only Words!

We define who we are and create our own reality by the words we use and the choices we make… So speak and choose wisely… Truth Sayer

I recently innocently uttered careless words to someone I barely knew.

I was at the grocery store very preoccupied with a heavy issue that weighed on me. I took my groceries out of the cart and placed them on the conveyor belt then realized my cashier was a nice woman I had done banking business with before. We got to talking about her new job at the grocery store.

“It’s a lot to get used to after so many years of sitting at a desk. I’m worn out at the end of the evening. I’m very out of shape,” she said referring to her weight.

“Yeah, I bet you are,” I said, digging through my purse looking for my debit card–then was horrified at my own comment. What I meant to say was that I understood how tired she was at the end of the evening, but I know that is not what she heard. I know because of the look on her face. I felt terrible.

Of course, I tried to backpedal telling her I had a similar experience years ago when I went from a desk job to standing on my feet nearly eight hours a day; which was the truth. I knew the more I tried to correct my mistake the worse it would sound so I changed the subject. I should have said something like this instead.

Be A Mentor

Do you know a young or new believer in need of a mentor?  When I was a new believer I was in desperate need of one.  What I really needed was a life coach to make up for all the life guidance I never received growing up, but would have greatly benefited from perching under the wings of a woman with a strong faith.  Sometimes, I terribly needed someone to cry with.

I needed a persistent someone who would have sought me out.  I probably didn’t believe I needed her then—but trust me— I was desperate for her. With perseverance, I believe I would have welcomed her.  I didn’t need a critical and judgmental someone, or someone to point out all my “sins;” for there were many.

I needed a loving, dedicated, graceful, patient someone.  I have read countless stories of people who had a mentor just like that.

When I read these stories I wonder where the mentor I urgently needed had been? Continue reading

Thy Will/My Will

imageThere are those who say to God:

“Thy will be done.  We will submit our wills to you, and place our eternity into your hands.”

God’s reward?

They will find His Blessings on earth, and spend all of eternity in His Heavenly kingdom with Him, crowned as His children.

Psalm 17:8  “Keep me as the apple of your eye, hide me under the shadow of our wings.”

Matthew 25:21 “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’

Then there are those to whom God says: Continue reading

An Unlikely Dream

Joseph wasn’t unlike some teenagers of today.  His father’s overt favoritism left him with that strong sense of entitlement—

“I really am all that.”  “It really is all about me.”

Jacob, Joseph’s father, AKA Israel, made Joseph an expensive and fancy coat to–well–die for.  Almost.

God had plans to use Joseph to save the nation of Israel, but first Joseph needed a humbling period.

Joseph needed to mature.  The enrollment into the University of Hard Knocks began. Continue reading

Don’t Miss Out On This!

imageIF YOUR KIDS KNOW JESUS, THEY  NEED TO KNOW WHO THEY ARE AS CHRIST FOLLOWERS

If you know a kid, or you are one of God’s grown up kids, your heart needs to know this!

Don’t miss out on this free offer from Keith Ferrin.  It is an identity booster for a Christ Follower.

I wish I would have known I had an identity in Christ when I was a kid, or even after I grew up!  It would have saved me a lifetime of heartache and empty identity searching.

I believe this is a great way to give our children a head start in life especially the way things are in this world nowadays. Continue reading

Grieving Forefathers

imageThis amazing image was captured by Amanda Ahren and Brian Husmann on their drive past Mount Rushmore the morning of the day it opened after being closed for two weeks due to government shut-down.  It was posted on Megan Ahren’s facebook page. As of yesterday early evening, this post had gone viral with over 12,000 shares.

The symbolism is incredible considering what is going on with our nation and our government.

God Bless America.  May He continue to shed His grace on this country!

When Rape Is Okay

Wow! What are these kids being taught at home!

When rape is okay

I want to thank Sisters of Power for this post. Even though I was horrified when I read this post, It definitely needs to be shared. Why are children being taught to believe such insane things? While no one wants to think their child is a predator, when we sweep such behavior under the rug, like my own mother did…we are in fact, breeding it. We are teaching our children that it is okay to rape.

“You’re a Stay-At-Home Mom? WHAT DO YOU DO ALL DAY?”

When I was the stay at home mom of 3 kids under 4, I spent all day making sure my kids tummies were filled, their dishes were washed (we didnt have a dishwasher), their clothes smelled fresh, their home was cleank safe and their toys were picked up, , their faces and bottoms were wiped, and their hearts were merry. I couldn’t wait till they took naps so I could have a downtime. My then-husband would come home and look at the pile of unfolded laundry on the bed and say, “What did you do all day?” I wish I would have said, “Sit down in your tidy house, eat your homemade dinner, and play with your well cared for kids.. I can’t tell you exactly all that I did, but I know it is an awful lot! because I am now exhausted” Motherhood is a non-ending job. I appreciate the way this man appreciates his wife and the mother of his kids.

This is a fabulous post, written by Matt Walsh on October 9, 2013. Kudos to him for putting his wife and all ‘Stay-At-Home’ Mom’s on a pedestal. What a great post! Don’t just read it here, check out his site and see what he’s up to at > The Matt Walsh Blog.

You’re A Stay-At-Home Mom? WHAT DO YOU DO ALL DAY?”

It’s happened twice in a week, and they were both women. Anyone ought to have more class than this, but women — especially women — should damn well know better.
