Give me the eyes of a child, Oh Lord
Fill my inner being with wonder and amazement
Restore this wounded and broken spirit
Replenish my soul to the time of my birth
Let not the beauty you set before me fade from my view
Give me the ears of a child, Dear God
Let carefree whispers fill my hearing
Help me to no longer buy into the enemy’s accusations
Send a word of healing, lead me to crystal waters
To the springs from which I may quench my thirst
Give me the mouth of a child, Holy Father
Let abundance flow from your mouth
Let only your glory pour out of my lips
Allow my words to bear the sweetness of honey
Let there be healing through words of encouragement
Give me the mind of a child, Oh Graceful One
Let your light pierce through clouds of oppression
Place a hedge of protection around me
Bind the thief that steals, kills and destroys
Shut out thoughts of discouragement
Give me the soul of a child, Mighty One
Remove the isolation and the plaguing heavy load
Free me from encompassing oppressors
Chain the giant of despair that grasps my throat
Breathe life once more into a spirit that cries out for you
Give me the heart of a child, Oh Heavenly Father
Release me from the realm of darkness as I fight for my heart
Tear down any wall that stands between us
Remove any footholds that keep me penned
So that I may believe in purity and beauty once again
Lord, please lead me, I long for your direction. I will follow you to the place of pure life and joy.
I long for you to place me under the safety of your wings. Return to me a child’s carefree innocence. Amen.
*Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star was originally a poem called The Star written in the early 19th century by Jane Taylor, then later arranged to music written by Mozart at the age of three.

Beautiful post Elizabeth. And I love you how you interwove ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’ and those adorable pics.
Thank you! In my mind, I could hear the song playing while the child swirled around in the bubbles.
Love this – add my Amen to yours!

Good idea. Thanks! 🙂
Amen! Such a great prayer for us all to live. The kingdom belongs to those with innocent hearts and trusting souls…(children-like). Good job…

As Jesus says in Matthew 18:3 says “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven”
A good one too! So many people don’t understand that it’s the “nature” of child-like love and trust itself Christ is looking for. Some think we must become children again, like we actually could somehow!
Have a great day, Elizabeth, and keep up your good work!

This poem is so beautiful. May we all have this childlike life. Thanks for stopping by my blog. Regards, Sandra
I really enjoyed the poems on your blog. Thank you for stopping by!
So sweet and beautiful!
I love the way children think. With a tenderhearted innocence.
Beautiful! Just what I needed today.
I am so glad it blessed you!
This is lovely, something like an extended meditation on one of my favorite Psalms–131.
It was indeed inspired by the Psalms! Thank you.
